Good trip...BAD LUCK!
Well, I should start with the bad luck first. It's basically never ending! So Jay surprised me for our 5 year anniversary with a little trip to Vegas and we drove there Saturday morning. We've made this drive a thousand times with no problem, but low and behold about 20 miles outside Baker and 45 miles from state line (essentially in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE) our car's tire completely split in half. So we pull over in the 100 degree heat with little Tay Ray and have to load out the entire trunk to get to our spare only to find out that it's flat. Yep, that's why you have AAA. So we give them a call and they tell us that they will only tow the car and 1 adult. So, what exactly were we supposed to do with the other one of us and our child?! So as we sat there, in the middle of the desert, with nothing in sight and some crazy traffic going by we had no idea what to do. And then this tow truck pulls up, who's life work is to drive from Baker to Vegas and tow people back and forth since flat tires are such a common occurance. So $400 cash to those folks, then another $450 to the tire place - our trip was off to a pretty rocky start. But - we're alive and safe, so can't complain. Then the very next day we were at church and Jay left 3rd hour to take Taylor home and come back to get us, but he was so late. What could be the trouble??? He rolled over something in my mom's car and popped her tire as well! He had to hike back to the house with Taylor on his hip, diaper bag and car seat in hand to put in the other car and come get us. So sad!! Then, the day after that we went to open our trunk and the back snapped and we can no longer open the back of our car, so that being the straw to break the camels back - we are buying a new car ASAP. It was already in the works, but it's full speed ahead now. Oh - and our camera broke. Awesome, I know. But even with all that bad luck, we seriously had such a fun time!! How weird is that? It was one of the best trips ever!
